The Art of Gardening at Great
Dixter - For our American Friends

We are offering an intensive, hands-on course from
August 2nd – 9th, 2008 conducted by Fergus Garrett, Christopher
Lloyd’s talented head gardener and friend. This is a rare
opportunity for 12 gardeners to learn–and practice–traditional
techniques and gardening first-hand in the Great Dixter gardens,
to discuss all aspects of border design and maintenance, and to
tour nearby world-class gardens with Fergus and the Great Dixter

Art Exhibition
Sunday 17th August to Sunday 14th September

An exhibition
of photography, painting and sculptural installations will be exhibited
at Great Dixter House and Gardens from mid August to September 2008.
The work by artist Wendy Smith is an explorative and evolving response
to the exuberant and flamboyant planting combinations that fill
the borders at Great Dixter, which were inspired from a recent twelve

The Great Dixter Christmas Fair
Saturday and Sunday 6th & 7th December 2008
Great Dixter is delighted to announce our third Christmas Fair which
will take place in the Great Hall, Yeomans Hall and connecting corridors.
Our diverse range of stalls will include products from our own shop*
and nursery, the Chelsea Physic Garden and many other interesting
items from local traders and of course the gardens will be open
to the public. If you would like to hire a stall at this Fair please

weeding, composting and staking will be covered. The day will include
slides and talks in the Great Hall plus sessions in the garden.

Nursery Propagation Day

The nursery at Great Dixter will host a day on propagation. You
will be taken through each stage from making your own compost, to
taking cuttings, sowing seeds, splitting perennials and looking
after potted plants. Places are limited to 15 for this study day
