Symposia

Symposia

Started by Christopher Lloyd, Great Dixter has been running Symposiums for over twenty years and due to the excellent horticultural tuition, many participants return year after year.

These events span one week at Great Dixter, throughout each of the seasons, and offer a rare opportunity for gardeners to learn and practise traditional techniques first-hand with our Head Gardener, Fergus Garrett, and his team. We also discuss aspects of border design and maintenance.

The fee is £2,950.00 and this includes the course, accommodation at the nearby Flackley Ash Hotel, meals throughout your stay and transport to & from Heathrow airport (for international attendees).

Due to Coronavirus, a significant number of Symposiums were cancelled in in 2020 and 2021 which was a great shame.

We are delighted that we are now able to begin hosting Symposiums again and will be rescheduling all of the people that sadly were unable to attend their previously booked sessions during the pandemic.

We will be contacting everyone to offer and confirm alternative dates in 2022 and 2023 and continue to be incredibly thankful for the patience that you have shown us during this time. We are looking forward to having each of you back and if you have any questions in the interim, please do contact us via email (see contact details below).

We welcome new interest too and are happy to add you to our Reserve List. This means that should any spaces become available, we will contact all reserves via email as well as advertising on our Instagram page. Please do send us an email with your name, contact information and the country that you will be travelling from and we can add you to our list.

Please note that if you have previously booked onto a Symposium that went on to be cancelled and wish to obtain a refund, please do send me an email and we can arrange this for you.

We look forward to speaking with you soon,

All the Best,

Vicky
