This classic jacket is 100% waterproof, windproof and breathable. The intensive gardening style at Great Dixter means we can’t let the rain stop us and after trialling many, this jacket has become the outer layer of choice for our gardening team.

Made from 180 g/m PU coated knitted polyamide fabric, it is strong, supple, 150% stretchable and noiseless.

The folding Pocket Boy 170 has a strong easy to grip rubber handle, locking blade at 2 angles and comes in its own case. Its compact size means it can easily be clipped to a belt or will fit inside a pocket. is suitable for all pruning tasks.

These tools are hand-forged in stainless steel by Sneeboer & Zn and are the best we have come across. This fork is part of a range especially designed by Great Dixter.

The fork version of the planting spade, allowing precision and control when you are on your hands and knees but greater leverage and power than a hand tool as a result of the length of the handle. The fork head enables you to weed in tight spaces whilst in a crouching position but can also be used to titivate the soil. The short handle length means it fits perfectly into the body when working with it. Handle made from ash.

Used by all our gardeners, this trowel’s wide face is perfectly shaped for planting and weeding. It comes with an ash handle.

Beautiful and highly practical, the Sussex Trug has been used in gardens since the 19th century. It can be used to collect fruit, vegetables or cut flowers as well as to carry gardening items.

The frame is made from coppiced sweet chestnut and the boards and feet from willow.

This tarred twine is weatherproof and so lasts longer than other varieties. We are not sure of the length of the ball, but we can tell you it weighs a half kilo.
