Great Dixter is a garden that delights and challenges. Our Behind the Scenes Tour provides a rare opportunity to enjoy a private viewing of the garden on a day when it is normally closed to the public. The tour includes an introduction to the history of the garden, the planting and what goes on behind the scenes to make it work.

The first part of the afternoon will be led by our current Ruth Borun Scholar, Colin Stewart, who will take you on a gentle exploration of the borders and meadow areas to examine the plants that are looking good this month and give an insight into the work that makes this happen. Plenty of time will be given to explore, take photos and ask questions.

Towards the end of the afternoon, the nursery team will introduce you to what they are growing this month, some of the techniques used and be able to provide further information on any plants of interest spotted in the garden.

There will be a break with light refreshments part way through the tour.
