In 2020 in response to the Coronavirus pandemic Great Dixter launched a series of online lectures on Zoom. These are now all available to watch online on demand on Vimeo

In his third online lecture Fergus will give the background to the biodiversity audit at Great Dixter, explain the process followed and will explore the reasons for such high diversity, especially in an intensively managed flower garden.

The findings from Great Dixter can directly relate to other gardens, large and small and prove what an important resource these spaces are for conserving some of our most threatened wildlife. Collectively, along with roadside verges, brownfield sites, urban and suburban spaces, gardens can play an important role in the future of many of our native species.
