Club 25 Student Fund
One of the most important things at Dixter is training gardeners of the future and so we are inviting our Friends and contacts to join Club 25 and give a gift of £10,000 or £5,000 in the year 2025 to help secure the UK Christopher Lloyd Scholarship for the next 4 years.
The aim of this scholarship is to fund intensive practical training in the traditional style of flower gardening as practised by Christopher Lloyd and his team at Great Dixter. This style continues today with the merging of traditional skills and new methods, using a palette of old and new plants. The aim is to educate and inspire students to the highest level of plantsmanship, garden craft and to encourage and protect the natural world in the garden environment. The result will be the deep skill base needed to manage complex gardens such as Great Dixter and to spread this by a ripple effect throughout horticulture, to other gardens and gardeners. The scholarship intends to address the serious problem of declining skill levels in the higher levels of professional gardening.
It takes a year and a minimum of £40,000 to train a Christopher Lloyd Scholar. The plan is to try to raise £160,000 to safeguard Great Dixter’s ability to continue providing this scholarship for the next 4 years.
