Miniature Hurdle Making Workshop
Monday 26th June 2017, 10am-4pm
Miniature hurdles, made to a traditional Sussex design are used as plant supports in the borders at Great Dixter.
Using a cleaving brake and shave horse, our resident expert Simon Johnson will guide you through the steps needed to make your own hurdles using sweet chestnut from our coppiced woodland.
The workshop includes homemade refreshments and a hearty lunch, and will take place in the Great Barn.
Price: £100 per person, which includes 2 completed hurdles made by you.

Christiane Gunzi Basketry in the Barn
Weekends of 15th & 16th July, 19th & 20th Aug. and 16th & 17th Sept. 2017
Christiane will be displaying 11.00 – 17.00 each day.
Christiane Gunzi will be weaving willow baskets in the Great Barn, and displaying some handmade examples of this old traditional craft.
She trained at the City Lit in London, and completed the City & Guilds in Creative Basketry in 2013. Based in East Sussex, Christiane handcrafts traditional and sculptural baskets using willow, rush, bark and other plant materials.
This is a free event, but donations are welcomed towards the thatched roof repair fund.
