Great Dixter invites a number of external speakers to lecture on a variety of topics, such as plants and gardening, biodiversity and the history of the house. Go to our What’s on page to see a list of all our forthcoming events.
As well as our in-house lecture programme, Fergus Garrett, Head Gardener and Chief Executive of the Great Dixter Charitable Trust visits and speaks at numerous external events during the year.

The Third Annual Christopher Lloyd Lecture
The Third Annual Christopher Lloyd lecture will be taking place on Saturday 29th July 2017 at 6pm. This year’s lecture will be given by Romke van der Kaa, writer, broadcaster, nurseryman and Christopher Lloyd’s Head Gardener in the 1970s.

Great Dixter’s Kitchen Garden
Monday 2nd October 2017, 10am-4pm
To celebrate the publication of his book, The Great Dixter Cook Book, we invite you to join Kitchen Gardener and Cook, Aaron Bertelsen on this special day discovering the work that goes into growing, harvesting, preparing and cooking produce from Great Dixter’s Kitchen Garden.
There will be tips on cultivar choice and cultivation through the year with emphasis on maintaining a full plot of seasonal fruit and vegetables, as well as ideas on how to create delicious meals using your produce.
The day includes refreshments and one of Aaron’s recipes for lunch.
