The waiting hall shown from the stairs at Great DixterThis part of the house is entirely the work of Lutyens. Through the arch on the left can be seen the secondary staircase with its oak lattice panels, which Lutyens copied from a 16th-century example at Hushheath Manor, near Staplehurst, Kent. The door beneath the main staircase conceals steps that lead down to a billiard room.
