This 3-day course led by Fergus and the garden team will help you get to grips with gardening for succession in your borders.

Using the garden at Great Dixter as an example, the course will teach you:

Winter interest and early season colour, including choice and use of bulbs both as permanent plantings and bedding pockets and how these are managed in the borders.

Different ways of prolonging the displays using self-sowers and late-season plants, including winter management.

Choosing and using hardy annuals including sowing schedules and seedling management.

Summer bedding including how to choose your seeds, time your sowing, and manage your seedlings for optimal flowering or foliage.

The practicalities of how to move in and out of borders and how to create space.

The course will culminate in laying out a long season border and working in layers to extend the season.

Refreshments and lunch are included and we are offering a 10% discount on plant sales for attendees in the nursery.
